Earth Energy: science, spirit and honest measurement

The earth has electric and magnetic life of its own. Scientists study it with careful instruments. People of faith and tradition have felt and spoken about it for thousands of years. Here we hold both, side by side, and we are honest about which is which.

What science measures

Telluric currents are natural electric currents that flow through the ground. They are driven mainly by changes in the earth’s magnetic field and are shaped by rocks and soil. They are real, and they are very small. Trees and our own bodies carry small electrical signals too.

What traditions teach

Ley lines, the sacred geometry of old sites, the aura and dowsing all belong to old traditions about the land. Some of these have not been confirmed by measurement. We honour them as part of the story of how people have listened to the earth, and we do not claim more than we can show.

Try it yourself

In three Earth Energy lessons you learn to measure the earth’s currents with a simple multimeter and ground rods, to explore trees and the body, and to test dowsing fairly with a blind trial. You will learn what a careful measurement can and cannot tell you.

A note on honesty

These lessons are for teaching and reflection. They promise no particular result, and nothing here is medical advice. Never use dowsing or home measurements to find buried gas, water or electricity cables. Always use proper checks before you dig.
